Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs has told Al Jazeera diplomacy must remain at the heart of efforts to prevent a wider regional conflict in the Middle East.
Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi says Doha is maintaining close communication with Washington while urging all parties to return to negotiations.
Speaking to Al Jazeera's Adrian Finighan, he also warned that the security of the Gulf is closely tied to global stability, given the region's central role in energy markets and international trade.
