Air defence systems across the Gulf have intercepted missiles and drones during what officials describe as a coordinated wave of attacks.

Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry says three ballistic missiles heading towards Prince Sultan Airbase were intercepted before reaching their target. Officials say it is the second similar attack targeting the base in recent days.

In Bahrain, the interior ministry says Iranian strikes hit two hotels and a residential building in the capital, causing material damage but no reported casualties.

Al Jazeera’s Aksel Zaimovic joins live from Doha.
