Israel has launched a new wave of strikes on central Beirut, targeting what it says is Hezbollah-linked infrastructure, including a building reportedly housing millions in cash and a branch of a Hezbollah-affiliated bank. The strikes hit outside traditional Hezbollah strongholds, raising sectarian tensions, with Lebanon's prime minister calling for calm. Israel has expanded its forced evacuation zone in southern Lebanon, now ordering people north of a second river, covering roughly 10% of Lebanese territory. Around 800,000 people are internally displaced, shelters are 90% full, and more than 600 have been killed since fighting resumed this month.

Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reported from Beirut.
