Top Pentagon officials have briefed reporters on US military operations against Iran ‘Operation Epic Fury,’ with Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth pledging victory and describing it as the "most intense day of strikes" yet.
Hegseth outlined three main objectives: destroying Iran's missiles, drones and production facilities; dismantling Iran's navy; and targeting its nuclear programme.
However, there was uncertainty over reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the vital shipping corridor effectively closed by Iran, with military escorts not yet authorised despite the risks involved.

Al Jazeera's Patty Culhane reports from Washington, DC.
