Veteran warns US actions in Iran echo Iraq War missteps and unprepared troops

The Trump administration launched a bombing campaign in Iran alongside Israel without explaining the mission to the American public or the troops, raising concerns over strategy and planning.
Naveed Shah, a US Army veteran and political director of Common Defense, told Al Jazeera that servicemen and women are being deployed without a clear understanding of their objectives.
He warned the situation mirrors the early Iraq War, with troops lacking proper equipment and no plan for “day two” of operations.
Shah said claims of Iran as an imminent threat are unfounded, especially after US operations reportedly destroyed its nuclear programme months ago.
He expressed deep concern that troops are already being killed due to inadequate fortifications, and that lessons from the past 20 years of conflict appear to have been ignored.
