Why war in Sudan is only intensifying after three years of conflict

Civilians in Sudan are increasingly being targeted in drone strikes by both sides fighting in the country's civil war.

Around 500 people were killed in attacks in the first two months of the year.

In the latest attack, 17 people were killed on Wednesday 11th March when a drone fired by Sudanese paramilitaries struck a secondary school and a health care centre in southern Sudan.

It comes at a time when neighbouring countries such as Chad and Egypt are turning away Sudanese refugees.

And at least 210 Sudanese students are being prevented from pursuing scholarships to some of the UK’s best universities after a ban on study visas for Sudanese students by Britain.
