Iran targets critical Gulf infrastructure after US strikes its water plant

Gulf countries are growing increasingly concerned as Iran expands its retaliation to civilian infrastructure, with a water desalination plant in Bahrain damaged by an Iranian drone attack—raising fears that Gulf states are being dragged into the crossfire. In Saudi Arabia, eight drones were intercepted, including one targeting the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh. The UAE activated air defence systems, while in Bahrain falling debris from an interception injured three people and damaged a university. Qatar's defence ministry reported an attack involving ten ballistic missiles and two cruise missiles, most of which were intercepted or landed in uninhabited areas. The strikes come a day after the US bombed a freshwater plant in southern Iran, escalating concerns over the targeting of critical infrastructure.
