As Israel's bombing campaign on Lebanon intensifies, a growing humanitarian crisis is unfolding at the Syrian border. Thousands of people, predominantly Syrians, have been crossing from Lebanon into Syria over recent days through border crossings such as Juicia in Homs province. Hundreds are entering every hour, fleeing the escalating violence. UN agencies, international NGOs, and Syrian government teams are providing assistance at the border, whilst officials expect refugee numbers to rise significantly as the conflict continues. The Syrian government has also reinforced military presence and checkpoints along the border to maintain security and prevent incidents.
