Women’s Day: Thousands march in Argentina against Milei’s policies

Thousands of women have taken to the streets of Buenos Aires to mark International Women's Day, protesting against President Javier Milei's cuts to gender programmes and institutions. As part of his austerity measures, Milei has dismantled state-funded women's rights initiatives and suggested revisiting Argentina's 2020 abortion law, possibly through a national referendum. Human rights groups warn that a femicide occurs in Argentina every 25 hours, and demonstrators say they are no longer fighting to advance rights but to defend those already won.

Al Jazeera's Teresa Bo reports from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
